Shunde District Recognizes Shenling Production Base III for Exemplary Zero Energy Building

  • News

On July 8, the Shunde District Urban-Rural Development, and Water Resources Bureau commended Shenling for their exceptional Zero Energy Building project. Shenling’s high-tech R&D building in Shunde High-Tech Park stands as the only operating zero-energy building demonstration site in Guangdong, setting a new benchmark in building energy conservation and emission reduction.

Last October, Shenling’s R&D building successfully passed the China Building Energy Efficiency Association’s seventh batch of near-zero energy building evaluations. In 2023, the project was further recognized as a typical zero-energy building case, making it the only project in the province to achieve dual certification for both design and operation as a zero-energy building. This achievement also earned the Urban Construction Development Green Fund of 950,000 RMB.

Shenling Production Base III is a modern green factory integrating intelligent manufacturing, smart offices, and living spaces. The base actively employs user-side energy storage systems, ultra-large temperature difference water storage cooling systems, high-efficiency air conditioning equipment, PV systems, and a smart IoT control platform. It has created artificial digital environment system application scenarios and built the park’s zero-energy building demonstration project to “LEED Platinum” standards.

According to calculations, Shenling’s high-tech R&D building saves 80% of annual operating costs, with a payback period for the increased investment in cold storage of just 2.85 years. Annually, it saves 6.3904 million kWh of electricity, conserves 1,961.85 tons of coal, and reduces carbon dioxide emissions by 2,415.56 tons.

Additionally, the project utilizes renewable energy, with rooftop solar panels generating approximately 5.7755 million kWh annually. This meets the project’s annual electricity demand of 1.6581 million kWh, achieving zero-energy building standards, and provides an additional 4.1174 million kWh of electricity to surrounding buildings.

Currently, the R&D building remains the only operating zero-energy building demonstration site in Guangdong, setting a benchmark in building energy conservation and emission reduction. The project achieves intelligent energy management and operation, ensuring efficient matching of energy supply and demand by leveraging PV, energy storage, and cooling technologies for optimal energy utilization. The related technologies have broad adaptability, suitable not only for industrial parks but also for commercial and agricultural parks with high energy consumption.

Today, nearly 40% of China’s total carbon emissions come from building construction and operations. Controlling and reducing energy consumption and emissions in this sector is crucial for achieving carbon emission reduction targets. Near-zero energy buildings, which are highly energy-efficient and provide comfortable living conditions, represent a vital approach to promote energy conservation and emission reduction.
